Welcome To The Future of Your Community

Untapped Scholars, Inc. is a tax exempt nonprofit organization that offers educational assistance to underrepresented youth who are interested in pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, and math. We accomplish this by providing professional guidance as well as tuition scholarships to students who matriculate through targeted mentoring programs. The long-term goal of Untapped Scholars is to empower the students to be trailblazers in their academic studies and communities. Our focus is slightly different at each level but the intention remains the same; to enable the youth to make positive changes in their lives as well as their communities, and to remain in pursuit of the following pillars:

Untapped Scholars broadens the spectrum of opportunities available by offering mentoring programs focusing on professional careers in STEM.

Untapped Scholars perpetuates academic enrollment and graduation in STEM fields as well as to assist in the transition from student to qualified professional.

The overall focus of Untapped Scholars is to encourage students to become trailblazers in their communities through guided outreach activities and building relationships.

This month, Untapped Scholars is doing our part to highlight the fact that black history is happening every day. We don't need to look much further than our own communities to realize that greatness can be embodied, not just by politicians and activists,  but by doctors and engineers who are dedicating their lives and their careers to STEM and the pursuits of education, happiness and equality.

Dr. Kenneth G. Poole currently serves as Medical Director of Patient Experience and Consultant to the Division of Community Internal Medicine at Mayo Clinic Arizona. He also serves as Assistant Professor of Medicine, Admissions Committee member, and faculty member at the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine. His educational background consists of a bachelors degree in Biology from Tennessee State University, a medical doctorate from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, and an MBA from Washington University In Saint Louis. Dr. Poole would say that graduating medical school and establishing his career at Mayo Clinic have been some of his greatest achievements in STEM thus far. When it comes to life achievements, however, he's most proud of being able to have set up his own not for profit foundation to give back. While one could say that Dr. Poole has achieved much success already, he still has goals of serving as a full professor as Mayo Clinic as well as attaining a chief-level leadership role in medicine. Thorough research and thinking outside the box have led Dr. Kenneth Poole Jr. to a great career in medicine and it is his belief that hard work, meticulously crafting a blueprint, and asking great questions can lead today's minority youth to the same success.

Untapped Scholars strives to be innovative in the ways that we provide support to our community. Over the holiday, we hosted a toy drive and networking event called Untapped Christmas  (special thanks to Bar Louie in the Central West End, Saint Louis, MO). The event focuses on collecting and distributing toys for underprivileged children in our community while also serving as an opportunity for us to thank those who have helped us throughout the year.
